Dental Radiograph Exposure: What You Should Know!

You may have seen some of the recent news stories, on Channel 13 and in USA Today, in which there were some statements made regarding dental x-rays.
Please be reassured that the x-rays (radiographs) they were discussing are different from the x-rays that are taken for orthodontic purposes. Further, we only take x-rays when necessary, and our x-rays are now digital, with substantially lower radiation levels than anything that was available in the past. Sondhi-Biggs Orthodontics invested in digital x-ray for the safety of you and your family almost 10 years ago. Providing digital x-rays and concern for our patients is another example of why Sondhi-Biggs Orthodontics is “Smiles Above the Rest”!

This study specifically evaluated patients who had undergone the older, non-digital x-rays, and this data therefore has no bearing on the way x-rays are utilized during orthodontic treatment in our office.

If you have any questions about any of the recommendations made for your treatment in our office, please don’t hesitate to ask the doctors or the staff.
