National Autism Awareness Month

Autism is a complex, life-long biological disorder of development that can result in social interaction problems, communication difficulties, and restrictive or repetitive interests and behaviors. Approximately 20 percent of children with autism reportedly experience a "regression"; that is, they have apparently normal development followed by a loss of communication and social skills. Boys are three-to-four times more likely to be affected by autism. In the majority of cases, no specific underlying cause can be identified as the cause of autism. Sondhi-Biggs Orthodontics has taken several different steps to make sure that our Autistic patients have the same pleasant experience as any other patient. We have integrated I-pads into our appointments which can help with communication, or in some cases, creates a calming experience for the patients. One more reason why Sondhi-Biggs Orthodontics is "Smiles Above the Rest."
